Hi guys n gals,
I'm not entirely sure if it would be exposure to state what I've recently bought to use this effect but it is a W*Z**D P* R*N* I am in the UK and know that only 1p and 2p coins work for this effect. What I'm really surprised at is how easy the coins fall with the slightest movement, again wanting to avoid exposure the m**n***c f**ce is not very strong. Maybe I need to use a thinner glass table. I know that you can buy gaff coins that will make this effect "easier" but I was wondering if anyone had any advice re the handling etc. I really wanted to use borrowed coins and not rely on switching gaffs in and out. I know Dynamo did it on his TV special with a £2 coin so it must have been a gaff. Thanks everyone, AA

I have done this type of effect with the same PK you are referring to, on some pretty thick tables. I have not really had much of a problem with it, but you just may end up having to be pickier when choosing your tables. Either that or get another Wizard piece (it never hurts to have two) and see if it may be a little stronger than the one you currently have. If not, you have extra one to use as a hidden hold-out.
I hope this helps. |

Hi Dr_J_Ayala,
I have the G2 piece, is this what you used or was it the original flat piece. What coins did you find best? Thanks for your advice, AA

This little PDF will solve most similar problems encountered. With the Any PK Ring Gimmick you will be able to select and use a magnet of appropriate size and strength. P.S. When using magnets, irrespective of the strength of the magnet the contact surface area plays a very important role. In the case of a ring, the point of contact (i.e. surface area of contact) is very little (it's only a line contact the size of the width of the ring) and hence the problem.

I do have the G2, but I have also used the original version. The coins I normally used were also borrowed 1P or 2P coins, but on occasion where necessary I did use a shimmed version of various other coins. As Ustaad mentioned, the contact surface does play a big role in the effectivity of any magnet - it can only provide strength through its point of contact. There are a few exceptions, none of which are applicable here.
The Hank Morfin PDF referenced by Ustaad is very useful - I recommend you check it out. |

Thank you very much for your advice!!
I'll check out the PDF and see what works best for me. Intersting read Ustaad about the surface area of magnets etc., really shed some light on the matter for me. I'm happy with my G2 for most effects, I'll keep practicing and I'm sure I'll improve. (Can't afford another ring just yet... ) Thanks again, AA

If you want to use borrowed coins and no gaffs for this effect,
you should learn a version of CTT where you use your CP and a few other slights to create the desired illusion. |
