I'm going to be in LA next week and I thought I'd try to visit The Magic Castle. I'm not a member of IBM or SAM--any suggestions?

Just curios!
How would someone normally get to see the Magic Castle? Chris |

The Magic Castle is a Private Club for Magician Members and their guests.
It is NOT open to the general public. To get in you must be invited by a member who can give you a pass, or be with a member. =Frank=
The Early Bird may get the Worm, but it's the SECOND Mouse that gets the CHEESE!!!

Cesar. Remember to wear a suit AND tie and if you're bringing womens they need to dress semiformal or better.
You'll have dinner so expect to pay 32 to 60 per person unless you want to park cars and clean dishes... and no, you can't make them disappear, (There's enough of that going on already.) I'll be working behind the bar Feb. 10th and 11th so if I look down and see you hiding under the counter then I'll know you decided to move in. Frank will perform his famous Ace Of Hearts trick which he's holding up but then again, you already know the conclusion. Ken will be making The Birthday Dough... which is some kind of Pizza Birthday Cake, so I understand If none of this makes sense you'll have to go see for yourself.

Good call there jay mentioning the jacket and tie. I was about to post that.
great place and fun to explore. I can say that I was most impressed with the food. I thought it was going to be high prices and just ok food but we all were pleasently surprised and enjoyed the food and the magic and the library. enjoy your time there. sam

Ken--I sent you a PM--thanks!
Jay--thanks for the advice--I had no idea! I'm going to be there Monday through Friday. What time is the last show? Warmest regards, Cesar |

Depending on how many people are in the building, the last show may or may not be held.
Get your meal early so you have time to see as much as possible. The best days to go are Mon, Tue or Wed as they have the smallest attendance. You could probably go on all three days and meet the regulars, Many regulars have a favourite day they attend.

Jay--I'm going to be in meetings most days (with my "day job") and won't get done till early evening most days. Is it possible to just attend a late show? How does it work? Cesar

Read the Epass that Ken sent you. Unless there is someone to sign you in, you'll have to have dinner.
Shows start at 7:30 ish and usually go till 10ish. There's 3 rooms (during the week) with different shows.

Ceasar when are you looking to go? I sent you a pass to your email as well. On the pass dinner is required. If you are a on performers guest list you can get in and skip the door charge and dinner.

Hey Guys,
I am a long-time East Coast magician. I am also planning an LA trip later this year with my wife and kids and would LOVE to visit the Magic Castle. Same question: can I get in? Should I ask here when I get closer to my trip? How does one become a member? Are well-behaved, well-dressed children allowed? Or is it an adult-only night out? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks! |

Kids are allowed on week-end brunch,11:00AM,casual dress. You still need an invitation from a member to get in.
