David, you are to be applauded for your efforts at mentoring so many of us by giving your time here on the Café.
When it comes to record keeping systems, some guys are paper based, others use excel, some use custome software for magicians or tools like Act!. What advice do you offer regarding systems for tracking show inquires, follow-up calls, deposits, dates booked, thank you cards, tricks presented at a given show, etc? Many thanks...MD |

Hi Michael,
I am old-school. I do everything on paper. Booking sheets, calendar, tracking. I don't think there is an advantage to using paper. It is just ewhat I have done for so long. I like it. Going electronic is a good thing and you should do it if you arent too entrenched in your old style. Act is good, Also check this out from Todd Neufeld: http://www.managersal.com/home.php/

I'll second Todd's ManagerSal. He's used his years of entertaining to design a very practical system that really works for performers. And since ManagerSal has only been available for public use for a couple of years, he's really interested in user feedback to make the program more useful for its users.

Yes, I will be lecturing at the big balloon convention in the US, Twist and Shout, in Phoenix Feb 1-5. I will be doing two lectures, I will do a piece on the stage, and I am doing a 4 hour workshop on Feb 1. Hope to see some of you there.
