At 10:45 p.m. on March 23, 1918, on the stage of the wonderous Wood Green Empire Theatre in North London, shots rang out and suddenly Chung Ling Soo reeled, twisted slightly to his right, shoulders arched, and fell to the floor as a scarlet red gunshot wound blossomed across his chest like a vibrant late summer rose. He dropped the plate he was holding which was meant to “catch” the bullet, and it smashed so loudly against the wooden stage floor that it almost seemed as if another gunshot had been fired in the theater. read more articles like this on at http://www.thedailydeception.com

As an aside to this I am about half way through Jim Steinmeyers book on the subject as I type. Highly recommend it (along with Hiding the Elephant for anyone who hasn't read that.
Great shout Chad thanks for the heads up. Richie. |

I love Jim's book on Chung Ling Soo...I've yet to tackle the Thurston Book.
Eventually I will do it again, when I have some down time.

Val Andrews' book on Soo is fantastic too. Used to be super rare, but there's some unsold stock at Davenports. It's £35 and packed full of colour plates of his posters. Steinmeyer's book's great though. Did you know it was made into a play here in the UK? It got awful reviews!

The Miracle Factory's Silence of Chung Ling Soo is a fantastic read that contains an 8 page color section with 40 Soo posters. There is also a chapter on the correspondence between Robinson and Houdini. The Miracle Factory is sold out but you can still find this book if you look around.

I too have the Andrews book, a great read. I scanned and printed out the colour plates for a routine I was planning but sadly never finished.
By failing to prepare, we are preparing to fail.
