I saw someone selling a Hanky Panky and instead of having the white spike/pen, it had a grey pen with a cap.

Is that a variation or do you think the seller put a replacement in there?

While early on you might have seen occasional replacement pieces that didn't match in exact color or style, all of Tenyo's props have been uniform for many years. Likely a replacement piece.
