Does anyone know if the book MAGIC 1400s-1950s by Jim Steinmeyer and others is to be reprinted? I waited to long to buy it on Amazon. Dealers are asking twice to three times the original Amazon selling price. Snooze you lose comes to mind.

Well, it’s back on Amazon for $126 unfortunately I was impatient and bought a new one for $150. Still a great book and highly recommended for anyone interested in magic history.

Amazon said it was OOP for the longest time and then 2-3 months ago it was marked as 'in-stock' and ready to ship in 4-6 weeks.
Of course with my luck being the way it is, as soon as I ordered the book its status changed. After waiting a month or so I canceled the order. I sooooo thought I had it (lol) [shakes fist at sky] |

Before ordering, check out the physical size and weight of the thing. Especially if you're considering shipping it overseas. I've met whole people who were smaller and lighter than this book. You could seriously injure someone by dropping it on them.
Reading it requires lifting apparatus or a small team of assistants. Just a heads up. |

Looks like there is a reprint but the price indicates this will be a smaller format anyone know anything about the reprint i.e what size will it be an edited version.

The Amazon entry indicates that it is still in French, German and English, so some of that speculation looks like it might be wrong. The new edition also appears on Waterstones, which indicates that is currently due to be published in 26 days: http://www.waterstones.com/waterstoneswe......9548886/ |

Also, be sure to check the weight limits of the coffee table you plan on putting it on. It doesn't fit on any bookshelf that I own.

Just pre-ordered mine on the uk amaz for on 28.79BP. Yes a little smaller and not as many pages as first edition, but it's still 2.63 x 12.1 x 15.63. At this size, it will still be considered hefty and at the price paid, I don't have to read or handle it using the white glove treatment. Im going to get the grand first edition for my collection, but this will be my leisure copy.

Back in print!!!!
It's $40.90 dollars on amazon as a preorder. Comes out July 1st. Just put it in my cart, this book looks amazing! |

The new edition arrived today from Amazon!! It wasn't due til July but has come out early, and I'm VERY impressed. In some ways I like it better than the original, though it is still very big and heavy. It now has a beautiful and substantial slipcase with the same front and back covers as the book. It's a tremendous value at the full $70 price, but for around $40 from Amazon, it's truly unbelievable. The biggest thing I've noticed missing is that there don't appear to be any foldout pages. If you're wondering whether to get it or not, I wouldn't hesitate. And I would order quickly before Amazon's price goes up.

Thanks for the tip on this book, I received mine and I, too, am mightily impressed with the overall production and contents. It's a magic trick in itself that it's available for just $40.00. I also own the larger production of this book by Taschen and it stacks up nicely as a "little sister" to the first volume.

I received my copy of the newer version, and I am very happy with it. As others have said, for $40, it is a tremendous value.
