Suggestions please for some good (not cards) effects that might be a little risque or appropriate for a burlesque evening.

This also might be one of the very few times that Baffling Bra is appropriate.

I have used all kinds of things for burlesque shows and you can have a lot of fun with them!

iwillfoolu mentioned the Baffling Bra - you can also try 20th Century Panties or Silk to Panties. I like using a Stiff Rope with risque lines. Papa Rabbit Hits the Big Time by Daryl using the adult lines that come with it (with or without your own additions) works very well.

The Japanese magician named Kikuchi has adult humor effects like Do It Best/Super Viagra (I know you asked for non-card effects, and although this one is, it can be done with other objects) and the Fu-Fu Card. Another Japanese magician by the name of Shinpei Ogawa has an effect called Dracula's Big Secret. Another adult-themed effect I have seen and have no idea who the creator is was called Cupid's Secret Life. Try checking http://www.seomagic-usa.com for those as I think they carry most of them, if not all of them. Note that these effects are clean adult humor and the first one (if done as supplied) contains partial nudity.

There are two versions of the same effect, one for men called Night Out With the Girls and one for women called One For the Ladies. You show a number of cards with pictures of really good-looking women/men (depending on which version you are showing). The cards are turned face down and one is chosen by the spectator and kept by them (seriously, how can they lose...?). All of the cards not chosen are shown. When the spectator reveals their selected card, they are always shocked to see they have selected the reigning king/queen of ugly. If you ever perform in bars or similar places, this kills...Again, this is a "card-type" effect and I apologize, but it can be done in the hands.

This is all I can think of at the moment and hopefully you can find something that appeals to you that matches your style and personality. As a side note, I can recommend Papa Rabbit Hits the Big Time, Stiff Rope and the Night Out With the Girls/One For the Girls because I use them. The others I have only seen performed and they have always gotten great reactions for the performers, but they were also being done in the appropriate venues and situations.

Dare I say......the sponge ding dong? A trick I hate but this is probably one of the very few times when it's appropriate.

I have found that with a little imagination most any trick can be turned that way.

My regular sponge ball routine with the inflections changed a bit works very well.

Scott Guinns "Pants" Is wonderful for this but was not intentionally created that way.

Slyhand mentioned Pants, which reminds me of using the crotch zipper to produce vanished items, such as sponges, ropes, coins, silks or whatever you need...

Ok get flexion (key Bending) by john allen. The patter that I use is this: I get a female (could be male) and tell her to write the initials of the person she had the best sex with and then on the other key have her write the initials of the person who she had the worst sex with. Then the keys go in her hand and I aske her to imagine the good sex now and I get pretty descriptive. They almost fall into a hypnotic transe when I do this and some really get into it. Then they open their hand the key with the good sex person is erect and the other limp.

I was thinking along the lines of Steve Beam's "Mr. Jimmy" - a perfect close-up gag for burlesque.

I also recall a silk to panty effect that Al Cohen used to sell. He'd have a guy think "good thoughts" as he held the silk.

Finally, a thread right up my, ah, alley! In my Big Kids (18+) show, I have a number of adult tricks including a risque patter Professor's nightmare (it's all about size); an effect based on Fraidy Cat Rabbit, lovingly refer to as Fraidy Cat Robert, which has a closet full of clothes or a naked man behind the closet door (with a strategically placed keyhole through which I can slip a finger when the man appears); a custom anatomically shaped change bag from which a spectator retrieves a handful of yeast packets instead of the vanished object; and a head-dagger chest that uses, er, male, um, daggers (cough).

One thing I've learned about doing adult magic, though, is that you should mix in non-risque tricks with the risque ones. Even sexy can become one-note in a hurry. You can also use risque questions to select/narrow down a volunteer i.e. have everyone stand then ask everyone who has had sex this week sit down, anyone who expects to have sex in the next week sit, everyone who expects to have sex in the next 20 years (all the men married over 20 years sit), etc. The other thing I do is avoid foul language even in my adult themed shows: There are a ton of funny, colloquial references for anatomical parts and maintains an odd mix of risque and sophistication.

Oh yeah, and if you book a burlesque show, strike the clause from your contract demanding a private dressing room. Trust me on this one...

Ambitious Signed Card From Fly immediately came to mind. You could expand on this like Steve Martin did. Maybe to keep it manageable for strolling, produce sheer silk panties only, before the selection. You could just keep reloading this one item to pull out first.
