Hello I am Kevin and have just recently joined the Fellowship of Christian Magicians. I am in West Toronto (Hamilton / Halton). I am trying to incorporate the gospel into a full one hour show.. I have only done bits and pieces over the past few years. I have done a few things,, Trust-Disceto Arm Guillotine, Sin-Silk fountain, Miracles of Jesus-multiplying wine bottles.. and a few other ideas.. Still struggling for other ideas to complete a full hour. Some of my other routines have involved levitation things like using loops, and the Zombie ball ,, these things never seem to go over well in the churches. Just using the word magic has caused problems in some churches..
I would love to hear from members who have other ideas. |

Welcome to the organization.
You may think about using the word "illustration" or "experiment" in case people are sensitive about the word magic.

I use Duane Laflin's term "Surprises for the Eye-es" rather than "magic."
For lots of Gospel magic ideas, I love plugging http://www.ChristianMagician.org - many videos posted there that were originally aired on a local cable access channel in Kalamazoo. I also posted on The Magic Café under the topic heading "Index for http://www.ChristianMagician.org" a complete list of all the tricks in order and exactly where they can be found on the web site (which program, how many minutes into the program each trick is at, etc.). So then you don't have to watch hours of and hours of programs just to see how one trick that you may have/are interested in was used in the series someplace. I do have a new complete new one hour show filmed many months ago now, still need to get around to getting it edited for placement on the web site. Stay tuned... |

Duane Laflin has a full line of magic tricks and applications for gospel programs. He one of the best when comes to gospel magic shows. His son runs an on line store called laflinmagicstore which carries the full line of products and books as well as his DVD's on gospel magic. He has a full show DVD that might be helpful for you to watch.

Welcome to the fellowship. Besure to go to the website and join the members section (on the login page there is a place to register). There you will find lots of books, notes etc. in our "on-line library." Under the Oz and Wilde heading, there is a book called "Gospel Patter for 50 familiar Effects" that hopefully will give you some ideas. Also, you can listen to the Fellowships Podcast which you can download/subscribe to on iTunes. It is called "Christian Magician." Hope your experience in the fellowship proves to be a great experience. It sure has for me. Kif
