So skeptics posting on some website about some fake picture of a tip now want to "see the original receipt."
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/trending-now......900.html This is like the 'birther' movement, but somehow even more inane.

Well, it's understandable that people would be skeptical: it's not as though bankers have a reputation for being jerks.

Looking at the original receipt that the restaurant gave, I note that it says "Guest Copy." I thought that was the one the customer was supposed to get. The original would say "Merchant Copy," no?

Hadn't considered that.

I dislike dishonest bankers as much as the next guy, but in this case it was the restaurant that said the copy online was doctored.
It just seems to me that if the restaurant was getting short-changed then they wouldn't have any reason to say they weren't. At least we can all be glad it wasn't a Hawaiian restaurant.

When I worked at PIMCO I would walk around Fashion Island nearly every day at lunchtime; I must have passed that restaurant (or its predecessor) a few hundred times.

Maybe the fact that a web site specifically devoted to the banker's alleged exploits was up and posting about it.
