Buy a fantasio vanishing cane instead.

James, Fantasio does make a silver vanishing cane. What the poster needs to do is read the instructions if he purchased this new.
Other wise, before the vanish give the cane 2 or 3 counter clockwise turns. It should then respond as designed. Also I strongly recommend the Fantasio Canes and Candle book sold at http://www.fantasio.com he sells it at half priec. It has all the information and creative ideas for you to work on. |

William, I think James was being funny. I myself have found it hard to make an appearing cane vanish.
elliottmagic - I have a 10 year old black Fantasio vanishing cane. When it slowed down I tried a few things with varying degrees of success. I cleaned the cane with warm soapy water This helped for a while. Then I rolled the collapsed cane tight held with a zip tie and placed it in a pot of hot water and brought it to a boil. I removed it from the heat and let it stand for about 10 minutes. Placed it in ice water for an hour removed it from the cold water and waited several hours until it was at room temperature. Dried it and applied clear shoe polish. Extended the cane and buffed it. I buff it before each use. I think it is as good or better than when I bought it. I am not sure if the silver will create a problem if you put it in hot water so as William and Richard have suggested get the book from Fantasio. Chris

The only correction to your discription is to boil the water 1st, then put the cane in the water after removeing from the stove. The bottom of the pot is always hotter and may affect the surface of the cane. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Quote:

Like card fanning powder?
Also, it is a fantasio cane, will the hot water affect the silver paint? Also, I have an older black vanishing cane, can you spray paint them or paint them in any way? Thank you for all your help |
