I have always liked the original. I loved the look and feel of the TV series but this movie is too goofy for me. I would have liked it dark and spooky.

Although it's usually difficult to tell from a trailer how a movie is going to turn out, sadly it looks like Tim Burton has turned a spooky tv show that I loved watching as a child into a cheesy comedy
Maybe it will be ok, but trailers usually contain the best bits of a movie... |

Someone in the goth community needs to step up and knock washed up Tim Burton off the throne. Roman Dirge, a comic book creator and magician would be a great.

Whoa, I don't know who Roman Dirge is, but yeah, what he said. Burton peaked with NBC and it's been downhill ever since. I thought 'The Corpse Bride' was the nadir until I got swindled into seeing 'Alice in Wonderland.' Burton's had enough of my money.

Burton never was very good IMHO and always took old gems and twisted them to get rid of what made them great - he ruined batman, planet of the apes, wonks... This is sad. Dell can be good but Burton turns him into a loser each time
I loved dark shadows - this is saddddd

I'll watch that for its gothic (and darkly sinister) 1960's social commentary. The trailer for this movie looks like another one of those 'fish out of water' joke-fests--doesn't understand the modern idiom for 'stoned', doesn't understand television (thinks there are little people in the box . . . really?) It's like Barnabas Collins is channeling Mork from Ork. No thanks. Ed Wood, yes, absolutely. This? I'm going to pass.

I absolutely agree. Dark Shadows (the original) is currently available on Netflix. Whatever you do, stay away from the 80s remake on Netflix! It was so contrived I couldn't even suspend my disbelief...there are always dead leaves blowing around peoples feet, while the trees above them have full green foliage. |

Tim Burton is a titan! Sure he has made some crap, but hey, "you can't make an omlette without cracking a few eggs". Imagine a world without Bettle Juice, Nightmare before Christmas, Ed Wood, Sweeney Todd, Pee Wee's Big Adventure and the tremendous Legend of Sleepy Hollow! And what about Batman Returns, a gem!
Tim Burton is making Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, due out this summer. I have high hopes for that one. I am reading the book now and it is great! |

Tim Burton is great. And thanks to Johnny Depps' great acting his films are successes.

Tim Burton has always cast Depp as the "fish out of water" no one plays it better.
As much as Dark Shadows was a cult classic (60's version) making a "serious" vampire film would be boring unless it fit in the "rampant blood and gore" genre, and then its just another Friday the 13th. Or have a bunch of hot moody vampires running around kissing, killing and playing softball to cool music This looks like fun, nuthin wrong with that. So he skewed Dark Shadows |

Tim Burton is also working on a musical version of his Alice and Wonderland for Broadway.
Speaking of Mr. Depp...anyone else see him playing himself on Life's Too Short... the Warwick Davis mockumentary? So funny...a must see. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8FnMvkKS2Q4&feature=related |

It was on ABC and aired immediately after the teen music review show called "Where the Action Is" (theme song sung by Freddy 'Boom Boom' Cannon)--featuring Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs ('Hey there, Little Red Riding Hood') as well as Paul Revere and the Raiders. Aren't memories precious? Today I'd like to wander through the house . . . remembering.
