Pardon my ignorance here, but I noticed in Balloon Magic, that several contributor's have the title CBA listed after their name. In doing some research, I have found that it stands for Certified Balloon Artist. Who certifies you to become a CPA? Just curious...?

I believe you go through Qualatex for that. I'm sure it is right up on their home page.

It is called a certified balloon artist but it is more for decorators then for twisters

I am a twister not a decorator so I see no point and sometimes I think that the more awards and stuff you have the more a lay person may think I could never afford this person but I could be wrong as well

I believe they have CBA groups that meet but I believe you have to be a CBA to participate. I only twist so likely not for me as well.

Christopher,
I've always felt the same way. It's a couple of letters that mean nothing to the layperson. -Jeff

I sometimes have to explain what a 'Balloon Artist' is, so I can only imagine what they'll do if I add the CBA to it!

The CBA certification program is geared more for the decorator and not the entertainer/twister. I have a bunch of letters behind my name for my day job, and I don't need another three. If you are in the balloon decorator world, it might be helpful, not so much for the letters behind your name but the education you get while attaining them.

The CBA curriculum is designed to give its students a standard set of skills of working with balloons. As with any distinction or award, it's all about how you present it to your audiences. I also completely disagree that listing your awards and titles will scare off potential customers. It's all how you sell it.
Here's in interesting blog post about the CBA test: http://theverybestballoonblog.blogspot.c......wbc.html |
