Just wondered if anyone ever bought from tokyo-hobby on ebay?
Has a few things reasonable but also has some bad feedback people never got what they paid for. Anyone have a problem getting your stuff? Richard

Always got what I paid for, prices were low, but there are no English instructions and the shipping is EXCEEDINGLY slow.

Just want to make sure Richard knew that. What I like about Magico Japan, another eBay seller, is that she, (Hitomi), includes English instructions, has very fast shippping, and is a pleasure to deal with . |

Yes I know Magico-Japan is much better to deal with but the price on Dragon Altar is twice as much.
I figured maybe someone might have a copy of instructions in english I might get from here. I may not buy from them just seen a great price wondered if it was safe to buy from. I know it will take forever to get though.

I have bought many Japanese only Tenyo from Tokyo Hobby.
It takes three weeks to get my items in New Jersey. Their prices are lower than a US Magic Store can get from the US Distributor at wholesale. That is not good for the US Magic Stores but that is another story. They seem to be a gigantic hobby store and I think that if they send English instructions they would be risking their relationship with Tenyo regarding selling in the grey market. If you think their auction sites prices are great, then buy from their website (they are known as plazajapan) and save another 10%. It is fully english and simple to navigate and buy. Illusion Box a.k.a Dragons Altar at $13.80 on the auctions site is $12.40 at the website. Be aware that the trick does not come with the coin. I guess Tenyo made a custom coin and ran out of them and just started sending them without the coin. I think you can get some instructions here if you buy from them but I would not expect that you will be able to get many instructions if you buy many Japanese packaged tricks. AA |

I will have to check the web site for sure. Would be nice if someone has the instructions I can read hahaha

I bought a blue box flower trick from Plaza Japan (Toyko Hobby on the site). It is very nice. If you are interested, PM me your email and I will tell you which one it is. It is mostly something a collector would buy. I have not tried it and it does not come with English instructions.
PM me because I don't want to see them cleaned out by the Tenyo Phantom. Then Tenyo Phantom struck again and all of the Alpha Tunnels at Maxello for $30 were bought out. I think there were 9 left yesterday. Now there are non. Maybe John will put more up. I wish the Tenyo Phantom would at least leave 2 tricks behind for the regular buyer. That would be a nice gesture. One for myself (I have read the gimmick plate can brake over time, the glue wears of), one for future trades. I had the opportunity for years to buy them because they have been on Maxello for ages but never thought it matters because I rarely perform the trick. But then I thought about the Tenyo Phantom indeed, and I felt that me mentioning the site and trick (that's why I say I am to blame) the Phantom would perhaps come in action. And he did ... . I also bought 1 Cardframe for the same reason. It seems they're also gone now ... there were I think 3 left yesterday evening. I sincerely hope we're wrong and some of the collectors bought one or two, but I'm afraid it could be one person buying them all (and I have an idea who it is to be honest). Let's hope indeed Maxello has more in stock. I think it's wise not to mention usefull links anymore and rather use the pm option. Very sad. I also bought from Tokyo Hobby a few months ago to have myself a spare of a few tricks and a trick Hitomi doesn't sell - the shipping took a week or three to arrive in Belgium - Europe. I prefer to deal with Magico/Hitomi because her service is excellent, answers questions, has English manuals and very speedy delivery (sometimes I think she lives in the post office ). But Tokyo Hobby's prices were much lower and I already had the English manuals. |

Don't worry killer I know someone (not me) that also bought two so they got spread around at lest a bit.
My plan was to return the non-Tenyo 4DX and get an Alpha Tunnel because they were almost an even exchange. I'll have to pick something else. When I bought a big order from Maxello one time (really big 20 different tricks and more than 15 of them were for my collection) John sent me a Card Frame in the blister pack even though I ordered and payed for the poly bag version. That was a great surprise. AA |

Placed 2 orders from Tokyo Hobby in the last months and I can say I am very satisfied. The shipping was a little long to Canada, but overall for the prices I have nothing bad to say. Sure Magico is the best (shipping in 4 days to Canada the last time!), but Tokyo is a good alternative. A+

My guess is they charge more on eBay to pass-on the eBay fees to the buyer. And I ain't even mad about the 2-3 week shipping times. My other hobby is R/C quadcopters and ALL that stuff comes on slow boats from China where 4-6 week waits are the norm... John, you run the site over at http://funstuffonly.com/tenyo/ right? That's another great Tenyo forum I DEFINITELY plan on getting into once I build-up some cred here at the Café |

To address your question, I have bought many items from Tokyo Hobby and all have come in excellent condition as advertised.

It varies greatly concerning the condition your Tenyo tricks arrive in when ordering them from Japan. Sometimes perfect and sometimes certainly not!
I have received Tenyo tricks from Japan which come in boxes and they just put the box unprotected in a flimsy envelope and ship it. Imagine what it looks like when it arrives. Sometimes, the packaging may have issues before they even pack it to ship out but there is no way of knowing that. It is hit or miss... Even if they claim that they pack carefully, I have found that it is not always the case. Quite frustrating actually if you are someone who cares about the packaging. If it does not matter to you as long as the trick arrives okay, then you usually have nothing to worry about. |
