Looks like Damien has something up his sleeve.

I love heist movies and I love gambling movies, so whenever a movie combines the two genres, I am all in. That's why I greatly enjoyed Fast Company, the script by Damian Nieman, which tells the mostly true story of Steve Forte, a con-man prodigy who took millions from the casinos in the 1970s and 1980s. It begins by showing a young Steve learning poker from his father at his weekly house game, then becoming a Vegas dealer, then realizing a lot more money could be made by learning how to mark blackjack cards and switch out the dice during craps play. It definitely has a Goodfellas feel to it, as Steve is the mastermind of a crew of guys who pull elaborate cons during the time that Las Vegas casinos were owned/controlled by the Mob. It also has a tinge of Catch Me If You Can, with a gaming commission agent constantly trying to thwart and arrest Steve and his crew -- with little success. http://scriptbreaker.blogspot.com/2011/0......rte.html

Damien is a member of this board, so if anyone could enlighten us it would be him or his close buddies.
This is the first time of it being mentioned publicly on the internet that I'm aware of. I believe it was also written about in a magazine a while back.

Where is this movie available? All I can find is the race car movie and the Fast Company teaching DVD (http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S10103). Is there another motion picture that I am missing that contains "The Steve Forte Story"?

Most definitely it has not already been produced as we would have seen and talked about it dozens, if not hundreds of times! The script review has it sound like it will be THE flagship film of this genre. A movie detailing the life of Steve Forte -- Can you imagine!? Remember the opening sequence of Shade? I'm drooling as I imagine what the opening scene of this movie will be like. It's hard to fathom the magnitude of this film and the massive impact it will have.
Unfortunately at this point all we have to go off of is it's in script-form. When it gets to the production phase, I will pay to be an extra! You hear that Damien!? Help me make my dream come true!

Ohh, I get it now! Thanks for clearing that up.
I hope this actually happens and would love to see (or read) a biography about Mr. Forte! -Mahu |

Hello all. Someone pointed out that this was being discussed out here so I thought I should respond.
Obviously this is a project that is near and dear to my heart and I have been working on for a while. I not going to say too much about it right now other than we are putting it all together and we have some great actors already involved in some key supporting roles - James Gandolfini, William Fichtner, Kevin Pollak etc. The hard part and most important is finding the right "Steve" for the lead -- but we're getting there. Of course the real hard part is getting a film made today that isn't a remake or a sequel or isn't based on some tween book series. More to come...

Thank you for the answer.
A little tiebreaker : do you think about a screen adaptation of gambling novels of James Swain ? I imagine Clint Eastwood playing the part of Tony Valentine... . |
