I just purchased a new stage cue system for $795.00US from a Canadian sound engineer , Joe Leskini, and its better than the more expensive systems on the market. Check it out at http://www.leskini.com

Darryl,
Can you give us a few more details about it, how it's working for you, how you're using it, how long you've been using it, etc? Which other systems have you used to compare it against? A review would be much more helpful than an ad! Also, the website suggests using the relay power strip to control a flashpot. DO NOT DO THIS. EVER. PERIOD. Controlling pyro from a wireless controller can be a very dangerous proposition. If there's some sort of RF interference that causes a false start of the receiver and you're just controlling music, all you get is a miscue. With pyro, the results would be far more catastrophic. Too many magicians already use pyro not fully understanding it, often not even doing it the way they legally should be. Let's not make it worse by using equipment that was not designed to safely control pyro to control it. Frankly, if you haven't been trained by a pyrotechnician, you shouldn't be using pyro, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms. --A

Andy,
I don't use my stage cue for any pyrotechnics. I mainly use it to cue my music and sound effects. I've only used the system for a few months and it sure beats running to the tape recorder to switch tracks or tapes. Previous to this system , I used a Radio Shack remote switch. I'd turn off the power and push the play button and when I needed the music, I simply push the start button on the wireless remote. I could only start and stop the music. At the time it was a small investment of $24.00. With the new system, the music takes about 5 seconds to fade out, the volume automatically going back to maximum level. I can move to any track, control the volume, pause the music, and also there's a built-in capability to control other electronic devices. Going to the website will help to explain the inner workings of the device. I like the device because I don't have to send it across the border and worry about duty, etc. to get it serviced. Joe also cleaned up all my cassettes and placed them onto a mini disc for me. The device has never failed me in a performance in the few months that I've used it. Darryl the Wizard

Darryl,
Does your StageCue system have this functionality: I press one button on the remote - track plays to end & cues up next track ? Also I press one button on the remote - track plays, I press another button and tracks fades out & cues up next track? These are things I would need.
Warmest regards

James,
I have the Virtual Sound Man and it has the functions you need. I think it works very good. I had used the VSM 6.0 a few times before I bought mine. It is close to the same price as the one Darryl was talking about. You can see it at http://www.majiloon.com Tim |

Here's the deal:
I did a show with another performer. He has VSM, I have the Mini Tech. The two units were side-by-side. His VSM worked flawlessly, my Minitech failed. (a lot) It was a large stage and both units had to be placed amongst a jungle of wireless mic receivers. However, other than that show, my Minitech never failed me. But, I admit, made me think twice a little. |

Just got my StageQue! Wow! This baby rocks! It is the BEST of what is offered on the market and at a better price. Check it out at: http://www.stagecue.com . Joe is a master at electronics. He is currently building me a little device that will play (the ever so famous) "cricket" sound at a touch of a button or on my ankel switch anytime during my show. In addition, Joe is making a major change to my "Perfect Clock" by Collector's Workshop. (this is the old time wind-up Prediction clock), I'll tip it when it's compeleted.

I have the majiloon Virtual Soundman and have been very happy with it. It does everything I need it to do.
The main problem I think is some guys ask their remotes to do too much. Do not try to make it jump back and forth. If you need a piece of walk up music twice, record it in order twice. I used this past season with a little 9 volt guitar pratice amp (probably about 5 watts max) for small shows where I did not need the mike. It is nice to walk in with a small 2 pound amp and a small pistol case with your remote, mini disc, all complete and battery powered. Show Tech is great but it is expensive. And you must absolutely learn how to use it. It is a great season when it is used properly. But unfortunately, I have seen too many performers not learn how to use it properly and then it fails.
