Hallo magicians, I hope I'm writing in the right place
I would like to know where I can find the best routines with socks, it's the effect where magicians show different socks (he takes them from a bag) and force 2 of them to the spectators. At the end, he shows that he wear these socks. I don't know the name. Do you know where I can find the best routines and the best change bag to perform this routine? |

Magogae,
You may only need to do a "bracelet" type effect to get the results you want. This is often done with dominoes or half colored cards. I'm sorry I don't know a source for this type of effect but I'm betting someone here could hip you to one. -Mary Mowder |

I believe this is a good section to ask that question, however, you might also get some more results if you post it in the Clowning Around section, as it sounds like the type of thing a clown might use as well.

Where did you see it? Youtube? Television? Live performance?
It also sounds like a mental effect, so check out the 2 mental magic sections. I only know of one trick using socks, and it is not the one you discribed. I did a search, and it looks like this is not a marketed effect. Read his forum from 2 year ago: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......forum=17 It may be a trick published in a 2008 Magic Magazine. http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=225 |

I think this is something I have seen the Italian magician Tony Binarelli do. I think he is the inventor of the trick as well.

Tony Binarelli only has a book and a video on the market, he did have 2 sets of lecture notes many years ago before these current items.
The discription for the book and video does not mention a sock mental trick. |

Unfortunately, I cannot find the link anymore. But, the routine you describe was definitely was on YouTube.

There was a version floating around from Tony Montana, but it was sort of tedious..I have a version I may release, I am debating it, because its just a really simplified version and does away with the bag.
Hope this helps, Six |

Dimitri The Mystery Artist has a Sock Effect in his collection on The Magic Nook, but his initial effect is different in that he makes a sock disappear from his foot and that is the one chosen by spectators, with no change bag involved. However, it occurs to me that you could use his same method to perform the effect described by the original poster, in which two different color socks are chosen, and again, no change bag would be needed.

Change bags "evolved" from "bags on a stick" that were used to take up the offering in many churches (MANY years ago!)
I've only seen such a "bag on a stick" used ONCE--in California, about 15 years ago. IMHO, change bags are outdated relics of THE VICTORIAN ERA. I did use one as a young inexperienced teenager, but when I realized its history,I abandoned it. An "ordinary" paper bag, like McDonalds uses to package sandwiches "to go" is relatively easy to gaff, and is much less suspicious.
