I have been looking through posts from 2002 and when they reference an earlier post and link, that link is invariably not there. The referenced posts seem to be from before the expansion of the number of member areas and I understand that the links might no longer work. My question is whether or not these posts still exist in an accessible archive?
For example: In shuffled not stirred, on March 12, 2003 Doug Dyment references a previous discussion and offers a link to an earlier discussion with the address of: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=29#28 When I click on this link it says that it doesn't exist. Understandable that the link would be outdated but I wondered if the information is still accessible and how one might go about retrieving this post? |

If the topic is truly gone, then there is no way to retrieve it. Another situation may be that the topic was moved to another forum which will give you the same response. In other words, if the link is in the workers forum and originally linked to another topic in the workers but since that post, the topic was moved to "gaffed and funky" the link will not work.
You can try using the search feature by entering a key word and selecting a specific forum you think it might posted in.

I ran a database search for the topic id and found that the topic has been moved here: http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......orum=110
