Hi people
Please go easy on me as I'm a complete beginner! I am strongly drawn to mentalism and am very keen to learn as much as I can bout it. Not sure where my interest stemmed from, just always remember being fascinated by anything psychological. I'm afraid to say I know nothing about this! I'm hoping people on here can help. I will probably ask many stupid questions but please feel free to laugh at me, I'll probably laugh along with you What has prompted me to write in this forum right now is that I went to see a certain live performance by a very well known UK performer a week ago (not sure how much I am allowed to say on here?!). He picked on me for one or two of his pieces during the show and now I'm even more fascinated than before. I'm going to see him again on Saturday and it would be great to go with a bit more insight than I did before. I know I need to get 13 Steps, it's on the 'to do' list. I already have Derren Browns 2 books which I have yet to start. Please feel free to take me under your wing! I've also posted this in 'Penny For Your Thoughts' as wasn't entirely sure where woudl be the best place to post! Thanks Debbie |

Welcome thedebonair,
I remember my whole family watching Kreskin when I was young. My parents and I didn't agree on much at the time so it was wonderful to find something to enjoy together. That was real Magic. Good luck. -Mary Mowder |

The first Derren Brown book is great and contains some great memory techniques.

Is this 'Pure Effect' you're referring to? There are a few copies on Ebay but it's quite expensive (and out of print)

Welcome Debbie ...
always pleased to see another member from the UK. Mentalism seems to be the popular choice of style these days. A female mentalist ... leading the show ... now that's a refreshing change. But I'll stand corrected, I'm sure. You will find guidance in your choice of purchase in this forum, that's for sure. If I can help at all, please PM me for my personal favourites. kind regards, WulfieSmith |
