That's very true... which is the main reason why I think animations are much more powerful since they have that sense of perhaps being real

That's also why, when you float something with a loop (card or ring whatever) I think it's a good idea to only display it for a moment and don't telegraph what is going to happen. Keep it a surprise unti the instant when the floating occurs. Everyone gets the chance to see it happen but then don't be tempted to move your hands all over the place showing off the floating item. You basically appear to have let go, the item is suspended in mid-air (but only for a moment) and then you finish up and should be enjoying the reactions at that point. Based on your presentation, I believe you can move quickly beyond all the speculations as to how it's done and arrive at a place where they are surprised and amazed. Ideally anyways and honestly that is what I get most of the time with the floating card effect that I enjoy performing.

I was just talking about this tonight with a friend. Flipping a pair of eye glasses over always plays well. I used to do that almost every day for someone or another.

Get a spectator to lightly pinch the point of a ball point pen, then move it without touching it,if you do it fast enough the pen will fall to the floor which adds to the impact.

I do a floating dollar; I put a little twist on it. I have the spectator fold a dollar into a paper airplane, and I fold a dollar into a paper airplane, whose ever plane fly's better, gets to keep both dollars!!, Spectator throws his dollar, and I say not bad! I act like I can’t do better, and then for a split second my dollar floats, in mid air Unexpectedly.
Man I forgot all about that trick, I should start doing it again...

I'm a big fan of Life by Daniel Garcia (on the ellusionist loops DVD set). I actually just stopped using loops and am now using a thread hookup for my haunted pack and Life but I used to do both with loops.

Haunted Deck and Daniel Garcia's Life are great. Not really competent in other loop effects though, so I'm going with the 2 that I know.
