Yes. I have sold several entertainers "Fender Passport Executive Systems" and they all carry them on.

I should add that anything much larger than the Executive System would probably be too large or too heavy to carry on.

I have one that isn't very big, my concern is that they won't allow that kind of equipment to be carried on. I have heard people have batteries confiscated etc.

I would sugggest that it really depends on your luck.
I had recently purchased a Happie Amp for a missionary trip - had no problems bringing the Happie Amp out of my home country and into Phillipines which I did so as Carry On luggage. As with all baggage, the carry on was scanned on departure and arrival and officials on both sides had not asked to further inspect my bags. However, on my return leg, I was stopped at Manila, Philippines by an officer after my bag went through X-ray. He inspected the Happie Amp and asked if there was a battery in it. He then proceeded to remoeve the battery and said that because it was a "high votage battery", could not be allowed on board. He accidentally dropped the battery onto the metal inspection desk and this caused sparks as the battery's metal parts came in contact with the desk. He managed to repeat this and denied my battery onboard. Had to dispose of my Happie Amp battery.... In future, I would pack the battery in a separate bag and tape up the metal connecting points... Hope this helps ! |

Good point.....
just to add....I sent a spare battery from USA to Asia....now they don't do international mail by boat anymore....its all flown....so taht means that my battery was flown to Asia...and it made it.... so yes, its a luck thing... |

I travel regularly with my Fender Passport P10W. It's got a 12V battery in it.
12V batteries are hardly what I would consider "high voltage." The majority of these batteries are non spillable sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries. The best way to travel with these is to tape the contacts off with electrical tape. Then remove them and put them in their own bin like you would a laptop prior to pushing it into the Xray. I have NEVER had them confiscated. And if you look at the TSA webpage the only requirement I see is that they be taped off to prevent accidental contact. The reason for removing them prior to sending them through XRay is the contents of the battery are opaque on scanners. So they'll likely do an individual check of the battery. Good luck. Travel smart. |
