On a DVD, Magic for Older Children by Pat Fallon, he does a trick with a Jump Rope (which he calls a skipping rope). He calls the routine Cut and Restored Skipping Rope. The rope has handles like a jump rope. He make various cuts, ends up with three knots, and then pops the knots off the rope. He doesn't explain how to do it because he says it is a dealer item.
Do you know what it is? I can't find it. I have figured out most of it but would like to find the "dealer item". |

Pat Fallon has answered my question. He wrote:
"The trick in question is called ‘Skip ‘N’ Snip’ and is exclusive to Practical Magic in the UK, who produced the DVD. They are very reliable and ship a good deal of their products to customers in the USA, so please check out their site http://www.practical-magic.com for some really great children’s effects." |

The closest I know of is John Ramsey's Tasseled Rope Trick available in booklet form:

I have this and can relate that the use of the jump-rope gives a reason for having a rope and increases mystery since the ends are bound in the handles -- "closing the door" on some possible suspicions. Yes, you could make your own jump-rope but the handling and gimmicks essential. I also often do the Shoelace trick with the jump-rope during the presentation and start with the rope in tangled mess as is left lying around by kids -- untying it manually while "wishing for magic" to help things out, etc.
The extra cost for shipping is relative to how much you will use it. For kids show using props they can relate to is a plus -- and if todays kids have never seen one they will still relate to what life was like before cell-phones.

Here is another "Comedy Cut and Restored Skipping Rope Plus by David Deval" It was put out by David Deval himself. If interested contact me and I´ll send you an attachment which is too large to be uploaded here.

The David Deval routine says it uses a secret device that requires a scissors. I also notice that Ricard sanders was involved in that.

The scisors are gimmicked in a very simple way. I can not see a mention of Richard Sanders in my 1999 instructions. Mike Hanzlik did the illustrations.

The cut and restored skip rope trick was one of the tricks the defunct company Supreme Magic use to sell. It was advertised for a long time by Tannen's as well here in the U.S.
I have never seen anyone perform it and with the long listing by Tannen would say it was not a "hot" item. |
