Debit cards and atm cards are the same thing...at least they are here in ontario. Anyway, thanks for all the help. Apparently I have to wait a few days now to confirm my account. Paypal has made two small deposits to my account and I have to enter those amounts on a confirmation page so they know its really me.
Now...in the meantime., can I sell something and be paid via paypal and let the funds sit there for a few days until my account confirmation or do I have to wait? |

Because I'm in Canada (like you), whenever I put funds into paypal via my bank account, it takes about 10 days for the transfer process to complete. I initiate that through paypal. I've also taken money out of paypal and put it into my bank account. Someone gave us a cash wedding gift via paypal. - Donald

Donald, can you not buy something through paypal and have your account debited immediately or is there a waiting period or do you have to load funds. Im in canada too.

I didn't hook my paypal account up with a debit card, but with the bank account directly. So, I can't comment on that. But yes, I have to load funds and it takes time.
If I want to use my paypal instantly, and I don't have enough of a balance sitting in my paypal, then I use my credit card, which is also connected up to my paypal account. With that, there is no loading of funds into paypal. Sometimes, when I don't have the funds on my credit card, I just have to wait for a bank transfer into paypal. Sometimes, this means planning ahead for purchases. BTW, I once had an american friend tell me that money goes into paypal instantly (and implied I was lying for saying that's not the way it worked with my account). I guess he didn't understand it works differently if you are out of the country, and using a bank account. - Donald
