I hope you will enjoy this interview, Here.
John promised to make it to 102 yrs young. We had a chocolate mousse cake from Coco's but he only managed to eat a small bite.

The really good part is he is still out there doing his thing.

Ray, I honestly hadn't considered that, but it is very true
and worth noting. He refuses to sit in a wheelchair and chooses
to walk everywhere.

My friends, I want to thank you for taking the time to watch the
video. It makes me feel good that folks care enough to do so.

Rey, made me weep a little! I am flooded with memories. I saw Mr. Calvert perform at the SAM annual convention in NYC in 1977 or 78 (I think). His was a dapper and dynamic performance. More so noteworthy because his props hadn't arrived and he put on an impromptu show with items he bought at a 5 and dime. It was an exercise in pure showmanship. I saw him 20 years later in Baltimore (joint SAM and IBM) with his floating organ and blindfold marksmanship routines. I had lunch with him both times (with several other magicians). I have seen his act maybe a half dozen times over the years. That he is still performing takes my breath away! Thanks man for the interview clip.

What strikes me about this clip is how clear he thinks and how well dressed and dapper he looks!

I just watch a TV show about him the other day. WOW, this guy did everything! Movie star, world traveler, fighting on the high seas, swept out into the sea for over 15 hours, flew planes, survived a plane crash and did a show the next day!

WOW..... What a guy!

I'm honored to have met this brilliant man back in May. He did a speaking engagement at our local magic shop, and he and his wife Tammy are both incredibly nice people.

I am glad that folks have such happy memories of magic
both Tammy and John have shared with the world.

If you are near the Bowling Green, Kentucky area, do
look up John in the phonebook and perhaps pay him a visit.

Blessings, ~dev/

I've been to their home a couple of times, and they are always so very gracious. I love them dearly!

Harry, the first time I visited John and Tammy at their home, John was standing in the driveway to meet me as I drove up. He was dressed no less than you'd expect from him, complete with jacket and tie. The second time, it would have been the same except he had been bitten by a neighborhood dog just a minute before I arrived. Needless to say, he was in the process of dealing with that. John is a true gentleman in every sense of the word.
