Hey, I posted pictures of our big balloon Biplane project we did over the summer. However, people had emailed me and asked to see some pictures and video of the progress, so I'm uploading this for anyone that wants to see. It was myself and I flew in a balloon artist friend from Indiana. We had my wife, a friend, and then a knot expert in to help with suspending it from the ceiling. It was a great project and turned out well. Hope it's interesting to you! Also, we caught a pretty funny moment where one of us fell off the ladder directly on the plane. Softest fall ever, and only about an hour of repairs.
Also, our daughter picked the song the video goes with, FYI. https://vimeo.com/49199430

Very cool, and good song choice by daughter. Any reason you didn't host the video using YouTube? All video players seem so poor (longer load times, more frequent errors, etc.) by comparison.

OMG! That's awesome! Did anything break/pop when the guy fell into it from the ladder? I would have laid down and cried!?!?!?

Not sure why I hosted it on Vimeo. I have an account there, so I guess that's why I used it. I initially used Vimeo a couple years ago because I didn't like Youtube's branding logo, but I think they have a way to get around that now. I'll probably put it up on Youtube too.
Yeah, Chris, he popped and did a little damage when he fell. I felt like a really bad person, because while he was falling all I was thinking was, "Not on the plane!" That was at 2 or 3 am and I was so ready to be done. Luckily it was minor damage that we could repair in a little less than an hour. After I changed my shorts, of course...

Wow! What an awesome project! You all did a great job! I'm glad the "falling person" was not hurt, and glad the damage was minimal, lol! Thanks for sharing!

Then it had to be split between 2 balloon twisters, so we ended up getting a little over $400 a piece. Probably not really good pay considering that it took over a day to complete, and that's a lot less than our day rate, but it was a nice project to do.

I have been there I built a entire large sculpture like this for a school prom I was at the school till 1am in the morning security locked me in the gym (no joke) it took me 30 hours to build and I told myself never again.I know twisters who make amazing huge sculptures and the pay they get doesn't come close to simply working 3-4 regular separate events on a weekend. $400 is low considering you could do 3-4 hour line twisting an easily make that. However I have been there fun and cool to do but not worth doing every week to pay the bills. |

It's one of those things that you think before you do it that it's a fantastic idea Then halfway through it you are hating yourself. Then the crazy thing is, you then look at the pictures later and think about doing it again!
I know how you feel though, when you break it down financially you think, why in the world would I do it again?!

Yup been there.. Just look at all the amazing Balloonhq photos. then put a comment down: "How long did it take? How much did you charge??" Most won't respond for this very reason.
