Hi guys,
I am looking to purchase a black lightweight silk, about 24" on a diagonal measurement. The kind that is see-through as used for coins through silk or the vanishing bird cage. I am just curious if anyone has any recommendations as to their preferred vendor for this kind of silk in terms of quality. I appreciate any information shared. Warmest regards. |

Firstly, silks are sold by measurements of the hemmed edges rather than diagonal measurements. Dealers don't buy silks by diagonal measurements. Beware of dealers quoting diagonal measurements. At best it is a method for over charging for the silk size.
This should help. Nominal ***** Actual ***** Diagonal Size ********* Size ****** Measurement 36†********* 34.5†****** 48†24†********* 22†******** 34.5†21†********* 20†******** 30†18†********* 17†******** 25.25†15†********* 14.25†***** 20.5†12†********* 11.25†***** 16†9†********** 8.25†****** 12†6" ********** 5.5" ******* 7.25†|

Since the closing of so many of the retail stores that carried this product they are very hard to find. They were nothing more then a ladies head scarf. Michael Ammar had a supply some years back, and has sold out, and cannot find a supplier. Do to women not wearing or using scarves very much if at all, I think you will have a hard time finding them.
I have a couple that my mother use to use, so as you can see, it was a long time ago. They are not silk, but nylon with very open weave. Petrick use to sell them, but since he has disappeared from magic since his divorce from Mia, I don't know of any place that could even help you look for them. You should check ladies stores, they may have a display of head scarves. You can also use the Juggling Scarves that are being sold on the market. Also look at custom shops for 1950's accessories. You can Google women nylon head scarves as well, if you want to use the Internet, but I did not find much. Amazon had one in white, but you had to buy a large order to have it shipped. |

Thanks for all the info. If anyone has one for sale, please let me know. In accordance with what Bob shared, I would be looking for an 18" version.
Thank you. |

As mentioned these were ladies head scarves and only came in one size, if I remember correctly, they were somewhere around 24" square.
You should look at the Juggling Scarves, they are smaller, and fit your needs. |

Kevin,
Bob has been busy...very busy. He was hosting the annual Magic Valley Ranch Flea Market this past weekend in Clanton, AL. He probably has a ton of emails and PM's waiting for him to answer, but if you haven't heard from him in a few days, try him again.

Folks,
I really owe you an apology for the delay. Last month I had a heart attack and things got behind schedule. My greatest problem was caused by an arrogant doctor who ignored a drug allergy warning on my charts. It took two weeks and two visits to another doctor to recover from that. I lost the use of my hands for a while. Things are fine now. (I even did a full stage show fundraiser for the arthritis folks last week!) I changed cardiologists! I'm at the ranch. If you email me I can send you attachments that I can't send via PM. Bob Bob Sanders Magic Valley Ranch 395 County Road 478 Clanton, AL 35046-3213 U.S.A. Thank you for the encouragement, Ruth. The recovery is going very well. Perhaps I'll get to see you at Magi-Whirl in April.
