Good question. I would say your bigger cities would have the larger magic shops, Los Angeles, San Francisco, etc. The problem with this question is, there are On-Line shops all over, and they don't carry inventory.
Tannens in NY used to be HUGE. They have shrunk. Hank Lee's Magic Factory failed years ago. To be honest, I am not impressed by "size". A Wal-Mart sized magic shop would have nothing different from any other shop, regardless of how big. I'm not sure there IS a big magic shop in the U.S. any more. The "Economy" don'tcha know! Doug |

The Cuckoos Nest in Pittsburgh is pretty spacious, with a great assortment of magic to choose from. Plus, a large book and DVD area to browse. Recommended!
I agree with Doug though, to me the size of the shop doesn't matter. I like good and friendly service, honest opinions regarding products, a good and intelligent selection...not just the stuff that sells...and an owner who keeps up on what's out there. Our Cleveland shop, Illusions, may not stock all of the latest and greatest, but Buck, the owner, will order anything you see online so you don't pay shipping. He gets it as quickly as you would get it, and calls you when it arrives. That's a big plus to me right there. I've probably saved hundreds of dollars in shipping over the years by ordering through him.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.

The Magic Emporium in Tampa, FL is quite spacious and has a built in theater for lectures and shows open to public that could fit 50 or so comfortably.

The US Toy Company just outside Kansas City has a pretty space dedicated to magic. I was there a few months ago and was impressed with the breadth of stock they had... However, there wasn't anyone there to demonstrate or talk magic with Regardless, the store manager was wonderful and gave me the opportunity to go to the stockroom where they had extra books to browse through. She was very nice and I was able to get some books at a decent price. Definitely somewhere I'd go back to if I'm ever in that part of the country again. Sizewise, they have more square footage than Abbotts but nowhere near the history!
