For the sake of us and YOU, stay away from borrowing finger rings. Unless you are wealthy and can afford to fix/replace someones heirloom...

Anyone silly enough to remove an expensive ring or family heirloom to loan a magician for a magic trick is stupid. There are enough people today with ornamental rings that have no inherent value other than making the individual wearing it look hip and fashionable. If you truly want to perform the ring to impossible location, educate yourself on how to recognize the difference between an inexpensive ring and a family heirloom.
Or, simply state that you need to borrow a cheap finger ring from someone in the audience. Not everyone who wears a ring does so due to its financial or emotional worth... |

I do not perform with jeweled rings when performing ring and string. I seek out bands as they are the most symmetrical and problem free. Frankly, I wouldn't even bother with the effect if I weren't going to borrow a spectator's ring as there would be no point to me. I will; however seek the largest and most exquisite jeweled rings when performing with Chance Wolf's Ultimate Ring Grinder to Gumball machine. It is the only prop that gives me the confidence to believe that any ring would be safe as houses throughout the duration of the effect.
