Darwin Ortiz's new book has an interesting concept in it regarding a spectator false shuffle.

I think Frank Yuen's suggestions are pretty good.

David Forrest has on one of his DVD's a very nice handling where the spectator is convinced that he has shuffled the whole deck.
The first time I saw it, I was fooled too. This is for controlling 26 cards and not the whole deck. David divides the deck in two and gives the spectator half of the deck. The spectator may shuffle the half deck and meanwhile David (false) shuffle the other half. Then, and this David does in a very deceptive and nice way, it SEEMS if he take the part of the spectator and give his part of the deck to the spectator to shuffle again. In reality he gives the SAME half deck to the spectator and Dave (false) shuffle his pack again. The spectator is convinced that he has shuffled both halves. In reality he has shuffled only 26 cards and Dave has still 26 cards in MD-order when he re-assembles the deck. The trick was with playing cards with characters on it to form a word if I remember good. |
