Hi ,
After a few years using a paper menu , I now always use this display menu and works good ( easy to choose , people can see all creations , and I can adapt models according to the event ) . ...but... sometines I think it breaks all creativity and surprise ( feeling like a balloon machine ). Some people tend to take it and go away ...like in a supermarket What do you think ? Oscar. |

I love it and it would definitely attract more attention than a piece of paper. The only problem I see is the wastage of the balloons required to make the menu every time. I think paper would be better for birthdays and smaller functions, but this could pay off for the all day larger places.
I have used a laminated piece of paper ever since I started (ok I admit... I only started 5 months ago) and I like it... but I need to find a place to put them, at parties the younger kids take them and run away... it gets a little bit crazy. I have had to replace the laminated menu a few times due to chocolate icing getting smeared all over them but the menus are cheap and you make your money back within a few balloons |

Thanks Majake . There is not really a wastage of balloons .I never sell balloons , my prices are a smile , a dance ,a joke ...but people mostly tip me .I noticed people are afraid on the word "free" and they searching the swindle .
Usually there are 20 one balloons models on it ( 20 balloons = 1$ ) . Its a good way to end the line , I close my bags and just each person pick a model until the display is empty ( that's going very quick ^^ ) . When all are gone , the event is ended , and people see it because there is nothing more on it . I use it as starter in birthday parties , so children get something very quick . After that I go to twist bigger stuff as usual with a paper menu ( models on the display can then be included in hats on multi balloons stuff ). |

WOW! That's a lot of work and wasted money on a menu that you must create EVERY TIME!
First I should say that I would rather have my tongue tied to a tailpipe and be drug 90mph over a field of broken glass, then do line work. However, when I'm in my restaurants, I have my portfolio on my iPhone so if someone wants to see examples of my work, they can just watch a slide show to give them some ideas. Why not do that on a larger scale? Maybe a larger monitor that you can run a slideshow on so people can watch that while waiting in line. It would be cheaper and less time consuming in the long run than blowing thru all those balloons. My 2 cents...

Hi ,
Yes Christopher , it takes about 15 min to prepare the models , that's ok ( and cheap ). I do line work since 2 years because of demand , but also birthdays ,weddings and retired people hospitals. ( this phto was at a handball final ). I agree with rudness of doing line work...its frustrating doing 1/2 balloon models instead of big wow creations ....but need $$$ , so I go and try just get the good moments In France , twisting in restaurant doesn't exist at the moment ^^ ! Yes the idea of the monitor is very good ! how much models do you have on your menu ? A bientôt . Oscar |

I think your balloon menu is an awesome idea, plus it's colorful and will get attention quickly. The idea of the shutting down the line with the balloons is great to.
My 2 cents |

I sell balloons on the streets and at markets. I don't sell more than about 50 balloons a session because of my venue.
I offer only half a dozen or so models, most of them made of 1 balloon, so that people won't have to pay too much for their model, and I can get a good turnover of customers. I can talk more about a model if I'm not busy with people waiting. Before you make what I desribe you need to think of two sizes. One is the size you can manage to carry to your site. The other is to decide how many models you will offer, and what size photos you want to put on the menu board. I have made what looks like a big book cover, [front and back covers, so it can be partially opened to stand on its edge]. It's made of strong solid cardboard, painted over, and covered with stick-down plastic lamination over the paint to keep it clean and waterproof. I took individual photos of each model and using the computer typed up the name of each model and glued that in a corner of the photograph. I then covered each photo with lamination and put velcro to stick them onto the menu board in a neat order. The prices are then on tickets on each photo, or group of photos. This means I can alter the prices easily when I want to. This means a person/child can come up to me, look at the menu board and decide what they want and how much they are going to pay. The menu is attractive to the customer and saves ordering time. I also have a few assembled models displayed. One way I do this is to have a cord stretched across somewhere. I make the models, and then where there is a twist in the model you can ease this over the line/cord and the model will hang from it. Mostly I suse a Filbert pump where just one push down on the piston can inflate a 260 fully. It saves a bit of time for each model, and definitely saves me energy.
The presentation makes the magic.

Oops, I just wrote "One is the size you can manage to carry to your site." I was talking about the size of the menu board. I made mine to fit into a suitcase along with other balloon gear.
The presentation makes the magic.
