Hi all, I thought I would share this for those of you trying to shrink the amount of stuff we have to carry to gigs. I recently retooled my show with the criteria that it MUST all fit inside a briefcase. Ok, well I had to cheat a bit, because I found a rather large briefcase (more carry on size.) For those of you interested, here is an excellent "large sized briefcase" that I purchased and am quite pleased with:

http://amzn.to/XiCcrI

It allows for me to fit everything needed, as well as enough room for creating custom areas for storage. It also seems very durable.

For what it's worth -

For me it's not as much the props but the sound system, rabbit and curtains that are a pain to lug around.

Yes agreed!

I am considering downsizing my large sized amp to the smaller one shown here:

http://www.happieamp.com

However I am somewhat nervous about the actual sound quality of such a small unit. Has anyone heard this thing live? It is doesn't distort, this would be a great amp due to its small size and weight.

We use a Roland street cube. It is amazing we run the sound from our computer from it and have a wireless mic. it easy to carry and has a great out put. It also can be ran of 6 AA Batteries. We have also hooked it up to other speakers as well.

My wife and I run a company called Science In A Van. We do science shows in schools. WE carry every thing we need in 3 of these http://www.stanleytools.com/default.asp?......=029025R in our van. Yes there big but they carry all our props and consumables 6 different shows we offer including PA and projector and few other bits.

I do have a small palour/stage show that fits in a small case and a costume I can were as a every day item.
Enjoy your magic,

and let others enjoy it as well!

Can you post a link to (a) the roland street cube that you are using? As well as (b) the wireless mic you're using with it? I'd love to see your set up. Thanks

Does anyone know of other "small portable amps" which project excellent sound? I have only owned the larger sized amps and they were a royal pain to carry from gig to gig.

Ben, I stumbled upon this last week and thought I'd share after reading your post. It is storage/performance set up with a built in Happie amp.

All,

For my Mentalism show I use the following.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/19-Rolling-Catal......59625940
I can get the following in side it:
The Pain Game with extra bags and stapler
Dan Harlan's Deja VooDoo cards
Dan Harlan's Crossword Puzzle book
Mental Epic Board with a magic square white board on the back
Toss out Deck
Lemon Game
Word to your mother book test
Pandora Bag
Mental Calculator
Crystal Bill Box
Celebrity SmartAss
Redonkulous
Dan Harlan's Hands across
Cardiographic
Extra Pens
My wireless mic with dual hook-ups as I require them to have a sound system for me to plug into
The I carry my Master Prediction Box case with everything I need for it (I don't use the apparatus for hanging the box so I replaced it with another table- contained in the box).
I don't travel out of state so I carry it all in one trip easily.

I use the HappieAmp and like it well. It does great for a crowd up to about 50 people or so depending on the acoustics of the room. It distorts music a bit so I'd not use it for more than just background music. It's great for voice amplification and the customer service is excellent.
