I'll say it again....SEO, the 'Tanzaku' design. Cut by HAND (not machine, which most dealers do) so it separates perfectly and flutters wide & falls slow.

Thanks Al,
white wizard do a search with my name and snow storm you will find a lot of info. I have to leave in a few moments for a show but wanted to quickly say a few things first SEO magic has the best snow storm loads EVER! there is nothing that compares. and I know as I have used everything under the sun! after 5000 performances of the snow storm I can tell you that seo is the best. I use one medium and one Tanzaku for my stage shows and in private homes or shows with low ceilings I use on medium and one small. (saves a few dollars) the Tanzaku is what we in america call slowfetti. the long cut makes it fall slower then the traditional square cut. also SEO uses Japanese tissue paper which is cut differently and is thinner then other tissue papers. its the best that's all you really need to know! contact SEO magic and tell Daisuke Seo that I sent you!! any thing else you want to know just ask. oh and by the way I now carry Fans that do NOT have the big dragons on them. I have them in an array of colors. black, red, blue, and the one I personally use is gold. I wear gold sneakers in the show so I thought the gold fan would look cool too. ok got to run. sam

Both magicians in my area that I would consider "competition" both do snowstorms for BD parties. I don't, and I actually market that I don't make a mess like they do. Is it pretty universal that the snowstorm is that great? To me it is not, but I fear I am looking at it as a magician, not a lay person.

I love the snowstorm Sam finishes a show with
but if my main competitors were doing it, then I'd finish with something unique to me

If you want an alternative to the snowstorm, then like Kevinr said, bubbles work really well, and a 'bubblestorm' bucket effect isn't that hard to dope out & cobble together, but just like with the power-fan SS effect, youre going to need music!
BTW, yes, I know theres already a bublestorm-from-bucket device on the magic market, but IMO it's ludicrously overpriced for what it does. Little kids do not give a rip as to whether or not you turn the pail upside-down!

Thanks everyone. the snow storm has been my closer for almost 10 years now it is unique to me in that I have a unique story and presentation.
that being said buying the right snow loads is only the first step. and I can assure you that the spanish guy would have benefited by using seo magic snow loads instead of the stuff he was using. I have toyed with the idea of using my fan method and then using the snow animator method but over the years I could never convince myself. even after talking to kevin james years ago about it. I think the fan method is organic and very magical and lets me be the magician if that makes any sense. don't get me wrong the animators are cool but I have rarely seen anyone use them correctly. I will see if I can find some video of my routine to post. sam

Sam - I agree with our thoughts concerning a well performed fan storm. Unless you go all the way to a theater snowing (like Copperfield), I think a Snow Animator does not achieve much more than the fan.
I am considering using a small butterfly storm for my library shows next summer. What is your opinion of this. What fan should I choose? I see Hocus Pocus sells them - is there a better source? |

Charlie- correct I also feel that the snow animimators kind of take away from the magic in that the trick goes from you turning a wet pack of paper into snow verses how is that snow blowing up in the air. to me the trick is about the snow now how it goes up into the air. thus I love the fan method.
and as I mentioned before every time I have seen some one use the animator they in my opinion don't do it right as they allow tons of snow to fall down in their laps and then it blows back up therefore proving that there is some type of blower pushing the paper into the air. ok that aside as for fans yes I would recommend contacting me directly with a pm or email and I can send you info on my fans that do not have the dragons on them. with my fans you can also whip them open or as I do throw them up in the air and have them open mid air can catch it. looks cool. I sell several color options. these are the fans I personally use as well. and the butterfly storm I would offer this advice. while they come in a neat packet they do not separate as well as you would like. I actually take them apart and put them in a baggie and shake them loose then reassemble them - not exactly but into a small packet then use a small piece of colored tisue paper to wrap them back up and have my packet to steal. they then separate much better and get much more height. and you don't have globs of them dropping right to the floor. I also have 2 of them at the start with some invisible thread taped to my fan and they look like they are fluttering around while I wave the fan then I stop and catch them on the fan then wave again this time now producing the storm of butterflies. they are fun and do offer a different fun feel for your shows then just a snow storm. and I might add they are easier to clean up from as 95% of them will be picked up and kept by the kids before any one has to do any cleaning! oh and I should also mention most times I also add in a maybe a quater of multi color snow storm load just to add to the excitement of the effect. sam

Regarding the "kids pick it up" thing: They pick up the snow too.....so they can throw it at you / each other!
