The finish on the cards may affect your success at the one-handed shuffle. I have found that Aviator cards--although a cheaper finish than Bicycle cards--are easier for some flourishes like the one-hand shuffle. If that doesn't do the trick, you might also try using _very fine_ sand paper to "round off" the edges of the deck slightly. Don't sand the edges a lot--just enough to take the "newness/sharpness" off the edges of the cards.

Also try giving the deck a slight bow before trying the shuffle.

What is the name of the shuffle you are attempting?
"Is there any point to which you would wish to draw my attention?"
"To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time."
"The dog did nothing in the night-time."
"That was the curious incident," remarked Sherlock Holmes.

I could never quite nail the one-handed shuffle until I watched one of Richard Turner's videos. For some reason, the way he taught it just made everything click. I even called him up to personally - and enthusiastically - thank him. Nice guy. Chatted with a complete stranger.
