I don't post much on this forum (I have my reasons) and I've never posted a review before, so here it goes...
Last week I received from Alchemy Moon their Alchemical Artfictum (AA) deck. I finally had the chance to sit down with them last night to go over them and the instructions. If you don't know what AA is, it's a "magickal" version of the Zenner cards. As with the Zenner cards, you get a deck of 25 cards (5 of each symbol) but the symbols are not just black lines on a white card, these are pieces of art! Each symbol is artistically represented by alchemy symbolism. If you have or seen their King Cussing Cards, you know how detailed the artwork is... AA is no exception. The cards are deviously m***ed. You not only know which symbol it is, you know which version of that symbol. Now don't expect a poker sized deck of cards, and don't definitely treat them like that, these are like tarot cards and should be treated as so. Don't expect to do any palming with these The instructions are fantastic. Like most of Alchemy Moon's instruction books, they put a lot of work in the layout and quality. I was surprised to see the size of the instructions when I first opened it. It's basically a 40+ page full colour magazine. It not only teaches you the workings of the cards, it also teaches you how to do readings with them based on the symbolism of each card. There are a lot of visual mnemonics that will help you remember the meanings. There are also a few routines explained in the book. They are very simple but they show you how deep you can go using the meanings and symbolism. These are just to help you have an understanding on how the cards should be used and as a springboard to develop your own ideas... I know it has for me. There are a few extra cards that comes with the set that you can use when you develop your routines. They are not explained in the instructions, but I think that's the purpose. My only complaint is that a couple of the cards had a bit of a raised edge due to the cutting. It's not a big deal and you can sand them down which I was going to do anyways to age them. In conclusion, don't think of this deck as a trick, but as a system to take some of those boring old ESP card routines and add a little magick to them. PS: No, I wasn't paid to promote this or even asked too. There hasn't been much talk about them besides Dr. S' post http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/viewt......um=14&21 and I think it deserves more attention then it has been. Cheers, Allan |

Wait, wait, you not only get the 5 symbols, but you also get them in 5 different designs?
and being M@RKED you not only get the symbol but a clean hit on what the design is? ok I'm ****ed now! where were these when I bought all those different sets trying to find a m@rked set that I not only could read but one the viewers would not catch........ from what distance can the M@rks be interpreted? |

Let me clear that up Michael, I've might of been unintentionally misleading... the designs are the same for each symbol, but they are in a different hues and have different additional little symbols around the main design. I hope that clears it up.

from what distance can the M@rks be interpreted? Depends how good your eyesight is But seriously, no they are not that readable if you are across the room but at a few feet away you can read them, at least I can (depends on lighting too) |

Toronto is built over various ley lines, hell portals and an ancient city under the lake dedicated to Glaaki
Michael - there are subtle differences - as each of the five symbols has five other themes to each - imagine a tarot card set having wild nookie with an ESP deck and these are the bizarre mystic offspring - synergized I am writing up some routines for Chris who I believe e is working up a companion book for these.... These are the items that got me hooked on alchemy moon - so I got everything from AM (literally) after seeing these... I believe AA is the sleeper hit of the year

Thanks for the reviews. Chris and I put a lot of time into the artwork, the writing, the systems behind it. This was a labor of love.

You guys did a great job Paul.
BTW, is Grandfather's Diary going to be coming out in the near future or has it been put on the back burner for now? Cheers, Allan |

Allan,
It is on the back burner, but HOPEFULLY not for too much longer. We were really close to having it out there on the market, but I wasn't totally happy with everything. I have about half of the things made, I just haven't fine tuned it the way I would like yet. |

Glad to hear that, Paul. Looked very cool, from checking out the AA pictures.
