Hey guys, once again, sorry for my amateur post. I have searched the forum before asking this here and I couldn't find an answer.
I ended up spending 45 minutes reading literally over 50 pages to get the answer but couldn't find it. I just watched David Blaine's What is magic program on Channel 4 (I think it may have been a re-run from previously). There were a few tricks which caught my eyes and I was unable to pinpoint out what they were, but I am 100% sure that it could be bought online like any other magic trick that I know off. This is a video of one of them - where he eventually shrinks down all the cards until he's left with the suit and the specs card. I think this may be similar to Panic by Aaron but no idea. Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5UQSM5jo72k Second one was where he takes a quarter and makes 3 crosses which were around it, appear under it. I later found out it was Exile by Matthieu Bich. Third one was where he gets a deck, throws it, throws a dart and one card hits the board with the dart. I think this is Bulls eye? So, my only question is - does anyone know the gimmick or the trick used for the first effect? |

The effect you're describing was supposed to have been released back in 2008/2"09 by Dan Haus and/or Dan White, I believe, but it never came out.

The first one doesn't use a gimmick and is known as "Compression" and is an unpublished/unreleased effect by Dan White and either Dan Hauss or Doug McKenzie (I forget). The shrinking deck effect was first published by Lin Searles in 1938 and is most commonly referred to as the Inflatable Deck. David Harkey teaches it in his book, and Greg Wilson also teaches it on his Pyrotechnic Pasteboards DVD.
Hope that helps. Happy Magic. |

I am also curious about the first trick. DB does it so well. My question is can the audience examine the deck at first prior to performing?

I also have a question. It's for you, Libertus, and Formless;
What effort have you put into finding the solutions (other than posting questions here)- or devising solutions for yourselves?
Tá sé ach cleas má dhéanann tú sé cuma mhaith ar cheann.
