They are generally available at any magic shop. You can probably get a decent one for $20-$30, I think. Its been a LONG time since I've been in the market for one, though!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

Pick up any version of Lethal Tender.
Not only do you get a great pocket effect, but you get a magnetic Half Dollar expanded shell in the bargain. Madhattermagicshop.com sells them for about $15.

The Sterling version of Lethal Tender is not made with a shell.

The Sterling version is the only version of Lethal Tender authorized by the inventor (Steve Dusheck).
I second Bowers' reccomendation for the Lassen entry level shell. You can get a cheaper shell (Johnson's shell is serviceable) but because the tolerances are so tight with the Lassen, there is no rattle. It's just a pleasure to use. I still can't believe how much I like my Lassen commercial CSB. One reccomendation: think about getting a few extra coins from Lassen while you're at it so they all fit the shell perfectly. Alan |

Ekuth sounds like he's got something there, though, with the other versions - a shell with a steel shim inside gives you some flexibility!

Well, I must have a knockoff version then... I didn't realize there was a difference. King Magic I think? Regardless.
It is nice; the shell I got with the effect isn't as nice as my Krupper's half shell by a long shot, but it's good to have a spare. You can pull off some really nice transpos, ect with the shimmed shells. I use a PK gimmick I made from a PDF I bought from a gentleman somewhere here on the Café... I'm away from where my stuff is right now or I'd look it up. Clever way to make any ring a PK ring. Very easy to get into and to ditch.

Nothing wrong with DIY. If you listen to Dusheck's DVD he is a big fan of DIY - he just didn't like it when people made money on his inventions without getting his permission. BTW you can make any ] attractable to a PK ring by adding a bit of shim material (that you can purchase from Chazpro) to the sticky side of a Teflon disk that you affix to the inside of your shell. You can also purchase very thin pre-made shim Teflon disks from Lassen's commercial site.

"Shell? Lethal Tender? There's no shell in Lethal Tender!!" (Think of that in Tom Hanks' voice from "A League of Their Own"!)
For some excellent information with regard to Lethal Tender, here's a post by Steve Dusheck: Quote:
*You can do the Dobson effect with Lethal Tender but you can't do my Lethal Tender routine with the Mason gimmick. I made a special gimmick for LT. It does not have a rim. My gimmick allows you to show the set as a Chinese coin and there is no tell tale rim showing around the Chinese coin. My rimless gimmick also eliminated noise, and left everything examinable including the card case. The reset is almost instant. His post is in this thread, page 3, second post down. Thanks! Jim |
