I had originally posted this in Magician's Of Old and got no responses. It has occurred to me that it probably is better suited for this section. So I'm copying and pasting the original post here:
======================================================= I'm sure many of you are familiar with Luis Zingone's Recorded Card Tricks. Well, I recently obtained a 78 rpm record he made as part of a Post Toasties promotion in 1940! The cardboard cover is worn, but the graphics are still colorful and it includes the instructions. It is a premium that was given to grocery store owners and not intended for the general public. When I received the record, it was warped and had a crack. But I got in contact with Jim Cooprider and he did a great job of fixing it. One side of the record appears to be one of the sides from the original Recorded Card Tricks album. The other side was specially recorded for the promotion: the selected card is found by spelling out "Post Toasties." Jim Cooprider told me that, based on the matrix number on the record, it is a standard Victor pressing done in late January or early February of 1940. The little bit of information I have been able to gather suggests that customers who sent in two box tops and ten cents were sent plastic 78s, but this is a standard 10-inch shellac 78. I'm guessing this is pretty rare. If anyone has any additional info on this, I'd love to hear about it. Joe Libby San Antonio, TX http://www.joelibby.net

Thank you for posting about Post (no pun intended)Toasties records. I have one in my possession but doesn't completely match the description above. It appears the recording is only on one side, not two. It is as big as 45 record and it is dated 1939. It is almost 5 1/2" x 5 1/2". It was mailed in a thin cardboard cover and is attached to the record. Obviously there was a cover in the mailing because I can see the perforation but no cover. It states on the record "Zingone Card Trick No. 1".
I think what I have is the original Recorded Card Trick albums. Am I right? Do you have any further information you could tell me about it? Thank you, Mark.
