Maxwell's ability to convey technical sleight of hand is somewhat of a mixed bag. For all practical purposes I say he did a fine job. There were very few instances where I could not fathom the instructions. His prose style on the other hand. Well...
I like reading the into to Open Travelers and how he bandies the word "classic". It'd make a swell drinking game. |

Great book imho. It's one of my top ten favorite books on magic in general.

I love this book. One of the gems is "In the Palm of Your Hand". It's a great presentation for a two-card transpo.

I have the 1986 version of the book. IF I would sell it what would the worth be as I understand it's OOP?

Not all great Masters are great Teachers and not all Teachers are Master performers... unless you're talking about Harry Lorayne.
I agree with Michael V but stick with it and take it slow. That's one of the inherent gifts of Magic books. In regard to Jennings, his difficult prose can sometimes spark your imaginiation to create something yourself that's true to you and your own talent. As to your post: "Sometimes I think I should actually read what I already have instead of buying more books," that discovery comes with age... and too many books, but it's a great thought. Take an old book, a day, a deck and a quiet corner. You'll feel like a kid again and have a great day and a great new effect. |

I think the not so great writing is minimal compared to all the great magic offered.

I think your mobile phone would be a good thing to use as it's something everybody has and are constantly going in and out of their pockets to use. Try it.
