False shuffling is important when working with a memorized deck or any prearranged deck. I've used the Aronson Stripout when I'm at a table. Has anyone else had experience with this false shuffle/cutting procedure. I've only seen one other magician use it,yet it is relatively easy to do.

I have his 3-DVD set and don't remember seeing it there. Where is it described?

It is described in Aronson's book "Simply Simon", pg. 65.

It's very nice. The pushthrough variant is also great, and it's easy to alternate them.

J,
Thanks for the reference. Another reason that I should pick up that book. |

Yeah, one reason I haven't purchased thus far is that I have already memorized Dyment's Quickstacker and am not sure how much of Simon's book would apply.

So don't let the fact that you are using Doug Dyment's Quickstacker deter you from buying some (or all?) of Simon Aronson's books. You will find plenty of memorized deck stack independent material in the Aronson books that you'll be able to perform using Doug's Quickerstacker. Mike P.S. And, while I am not going to go through each of Simon's books and do a "stack independent/stack dependent" tally, my gut feeling is that most of the material is stack independent. In fact, my (faulty?) recollection is that the only stack dependent material in Simon's books appears in a chapter/section in his "Try the Impossible" book entitled "Unpacking the Aronson Stack". There may be more stack dependent effects in Simon's books, but at this late time of night, my memory is in hibernation mode and I'm not able to think of any other examples. (If there are other stack dependent examples in the Aronson books, now is the time for other Café members to chime in and mention same. grin)

Hey,
The only other stack dependent effects are found in Simon's Bound to Please. It also contains several stack independent effects as well. EVERY one of his books on the market contain some stack independent effects and are well worth picking up! Eric |

I've found "Past,Present,Future" to have a great effect on spectator's, especially using the wallet index ending.

Make sure to also check out Aronson's website as many Aronson-dependent effects are described.

It's an extremely deceptive false shuffle and the cutting sequence at the end really nails it.

Slightly off topic of the OP dealing with the Aronson Stripout, I apologize in advance and offer:

(And, like the "Aronson Stripout" discussion of this thread, Past, Present Future" is also found in Simon's "Simply Simon" book.) I put the "Past, Present, Future" effect almost on par with Simon's stack independent "Four Part Harmony" effect. ("Four Part Harmony" is found in Simon's "The Aronson Approach" book.) Brief Effect Synopses (as seen by the audience): In "Past, Present Future", from a freely cut and reassembled deck (freely cut and reassembled three times by a spectator), the performer is able to "divine" the three cards freely chosen by that spectator! In "Four Part Harmony", four spectators each select and memorize a card from a block of cards previously freely cut out from the middle of the deck! The four selected cards are reinserted into portions of the block of cards and the cards genuinely shuffled by one, two or more of the spectators. Yet, from the audience's point of view, in a very fair manner and under "impossible conditions", the performer is able to divine all four selected cards. (This effect is probably my favorite Aronson mem deck effect that uses just a deck of cards.) More complete information of the Aronson books can be found in many places...including Simon Aronson's web site at: http://www.simonaronson.com/ , and, http://www.simonaronson.com/other.htm Hope this helps those on the fence about buying one or more of the Aronson books. Really, there are mem deck "closers" in each of the four Aronson books. If properly performed, these "closers" can each be a reputation maker. All the foregoing is just IMHO. Your mileage may vary...and probably does. (grin) Mike P.S. And,...while we are at it, don't forget the two wonderful Aronson mem deck additions put out by Café member Eric Richardson. They are each a .pdf download, each is based upon the Aronson Mem deck Stack and each sells for the ridiculously low price of only $10.00. For more information on these two Richardson books, go to: http://www.vanishingincmagic.com/magic-d......depends/ . Eric is very modest and will not initiate a conversation touting his own books. Hence, it is up to the membership to alert other members to these two treasures. Consider that done here.

I do a basic push-through shuffle and the Aronson stripout. I love how it incorporates a shuffle with a triple cut. Very deceptive. My favorite from Simply Simon.
