Some info true, some complete false..
Male or female doesn't really matter, I've had 2 eggs, 1 male & 1 female green wing. I choose the male because he was the first to eat 'big bird food', the first to fly, the first to sit on a perch and so on, the male was the smarter one. They both have cons and pro's, the pro's with a male is that they are bigger and they never have eggs... Green winged macaws are considered 'the best'. Because they are more playfull, less likely to scream and bite and they look pretty *** good. Also, these birds can grow old, really old, even outlive their owners, so if you get one, keep in mind you're getting it for life... |

I have never had an issue with potty training, although my GW has taken it to heart. She will go if it is a must . . . and then it is not a "little" mess. I can usually tell when she has to go, and may miss a cue once every year or two.
Oh, also I have a female Umbrella Cockatoo too. Both the ladies like their "lady time" now that they are mature - especially the GW. She can get loud about it too (and it could pass as human) . . . Usually at dinner . . . Dinner at the Cameron residence often sounds like a porno set. |

Parrots scream to welcome members of the flock, to find members of the flock, when they are happy, and to warn of danger (which could be a falling leaf they see through the window).
If you yell at them when they scream they will think you are joining the party! They will not understand most discipline. Rewarding their quiet times is the best method to limit their screaming. If they stop screaming entirely I would be worried. Screaming is part of owning parrots. If you can't handle it at all, change yourself, not them. |

My macaws and Mollucan cockatoo don't scream at all, they just talk parrot most of the time. The only time they scream is when I am late at feeding time.
I would still prefer to get a pure bred than a hybrid if you plan to use it as a show bird.
