One the biggest National Hunt racing festivals in the world is just around the corner, which is Cheltenham . The Irish come over and make it all a great atmosphere. the Irish are great gamblers. There are millions in cash bet at the track at the Cheltenham track and there are some great private back room poker games in this little town there in the week the festival is on. I have seen some good games there played even outside in the pub gardens some years. The police there tend to turn a blind eye it that week. Some years ago I knew a crew who would start a little game in an hotel bar there hopping a sucker or two would take seat Which is not something one can normally get away with in public places today, the management of a bar would stop it because they might lose their drinks if they allowed it. At Cheltenham though when the festival is on it is great as go a bit wild west. But Cheltenham is more or less all about the racing and there there is some great racing on. My favourite race there is, The Christie's Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup which is raced immediately after the Gold Cup on the Friday of the Cheltenham Festival on exactly the same course and distance. A hunter chase raced over three miles, two and a half furlongs, for amateurs jockeys riding fox hunters. The race was won in 2012 by the Rodger Sweeney trained Salsify at odds of 7/1 and at the moment it's 5/1 favourite to win it again this year. I think it is a fair price for it. IF it runs I think it will be half that price.
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.
