I wanted to share a love poem I wrote to a girl my first year in embalming school. Hope you all enjoy it.
Undying Love You were my first, but not my last, I thank God I met you in that embalming class. I held your hand; your skin had the slip, so I made the incision just above your hip. I held you closely to ease your pain, as I inserted the needle into your vein. As I kissed your lips, I thought, “What a waste,” and I’ll never forget that formaldehyde taste. Your life was so fragile, like eggs in a basket; I wept from my heart when I closed the casket. Whether Hell below or Heaven above; I’ll always be your last true love. Roses are red, violets are blue, every embalming reminds me of you.

I smiled, wiped the embalming fluid expressing from the corner of her mouth with my hanky, and closed the lid gently. Sigh, no love stronger than a dying love. My heart fibrulates a little every time I embalm just thinking about it.

Will, you should write a book of your love poems.
I have been thinking, in these times of austerity, perhaps you could use the expanding gasses within the cadaver, to inflate mylar balloons ffor sale to the grieving family and friends. Maybe heart shaped balloons which say bonvoyage/ well miss you etc. Kotah |

What a great idea, Kotah. Actually the poems will be included in my 3rd book (in a series of 4)on this subject.
