The person who showed it to me didn't know the history, as another magician had showed it to him.
The downside of this is that it does keep the spectator looking down as opposed to more up towards you / your face. The benefits of this are: 1) The top to bottom orientation of the paddle is kept the same. So, when you have something like the bunny paddle as shown in the video demo, with the normal paddle move, and observant spectator might notice that the top hat is changing from right side up to upside down and back again. 2) The wrist movement actually makes it more convincing that you are turning the paddle over. http://youtu.be/ORmi54mu6jo Thanks, Bart |

It might be included in the Merrill knife book, but I can't lay my hands on my copy to verify.

This very similar to the Paddle Move shown to me by the late Bruce Cervon. I had to be in the mid 1970's. As far as I know, it was never in print. I show and explain the move in my lectures.
Enjoy the Search. Respectfully, Paul Green |

That move does look unique, do you think you could right that handling out in text? It would be good to record it, you could also offer it to one of the magic magazines to have it published.
Just as you don't know who showed it to you, that is how information gets lost. You should credit his name at least, instead of just calling him "The person", it would only be the right thing to do. He may have also just was being shy, maybe it is his move. We will never know unless it is recorded. |

This move has been already published, over 38 years ago.
It can be found originally in the following book: On Page 29 - Ultra Fast "Turn": a quicker than the eye move. Ascanio's World of Knives by Jose De La Torre : ©1975 Published by Jose's Studio, New Jersey |

It's hard to tell from the clip if the paddle is quickly doing a full revolution ( Ultra Fast Turn ), or if the paddle is not turning over and the hand and wrist are giving the illusion of a turnover.
Which is it? |
