I think Blaine is cheesy, but I think he has given the art a shot in the arm. It has brought magic back into the mainstream, and the oddity of the effects he does is geared more towards the younger crowd and they seem to like it.

Blaine has never been one of my favorites, and, as has ben said, small miracles can do the work of the expensive/complicated/downright silly things that Blaine sometimes does. On the other hand, There is nothing like a random act of bizarre to hit people like a boulder. I just can't decide about Blaine's style. It is his own.
He is a stuntman, sometimes a downright geek. I prefer emphizizing the story that makes a trick magical, and Blaine wipes that away with a steely stare and a mumbled word of 'transcending the mind.' Oh, well. |

Just think about what Necromancer has said.
It should be written in flames two feet high over the door of every magic club in the world. And he's not saying be DB, he's saying BE YOURSELF, whatever that is, and incorporate your magic into your own unique persona.
Warmest regards

Oddly, in a bizarre thread, no one has mentioned the earlier-written prediction that has now come true (to my knowledge). Someone HAS in fact sued McDonald's for, basically, heart damage (obesity, but the effects of which include heart damage)...Not a bad prediction effect at all!

I am good friends with my local MC Donalds manager. He just got sued for serving a lady a very hot chicken sandwich just out of the fry-vat, it looks like she is going to win and win big. This is even at a local level!!!

In a reality where "War of the Worlds" caused wide-spread panic because people thought it was real, stupidity knows no ends in any decade. Even though I have my reservations about Blaine's lack of personality, he performed that quite well and I enjoyed it.
I would love to hear Maven's honest thoughts on Blaine. I'm sure it would make for interesting conversation. -Daniel GreenWolf |

To further address human gullibility:
The late Dr. David Hoy once visited Bill Brewe at his Cincinnati magic shop and saw Bill was swamped. Offering to lend a hand, Dave started demonstrating and pitching tricks left and right to take the pressure off Bill. "Isn't this going to hurt your psychic business, Dave?" Bill asked. "Oh no," Dave replied with a smile, "people will believe what they want to believe." Steve
