Nikrash was a brilliant guy and was very, very good at what he did.
One of the problems with a scam of this type is the amount of people involved in the play. If any of them become dissatisfied, or get nailed on a drug or other kind of bust, they might give up the play as part of a plea bargain, especially if they feel they have not receive their “fair” share of the scam. As brilliant as these scams were, they seem to have their own self-destruct build in. If one goes long enough, it is just a matter of time before something happens, either by accident or design, that nails the play. The only ones who can go along and not get caught are sometimes those who quit after stealing a certain amount. But realistically, who can do that? In order to stay up to date, Nikrash subscribed to Slot Machine magazines while in prison. Nikrash once stated that the casinos needed winners from time to time as it is good advertising for them. His thought was he was just helping them achieve that objective. So in a certain sense, he was actually helping out the casino operators although his “charge” for doing so was considerably more than a good advertising agency would cost. |

And when is enough enough ? I have never known a guy to say "Well I made such and such , its time to quit". doesn't happen, not in the real world anyway. A great case in point is Mike Franzese. His old man was a legendary skipper in the Colombo crew and the kid got his wings because of the old man, otherwise he couldn't bounce a rubber ball against the curb. Anyway, case in point is he got involved with these Russians in Bklyn who had a scam going where they were selling gasoline and beating the Govt out of literally hundreds of millions of dollars. The Russians had a problem though, they were getting squeezed by other Russians who wanted to muscle them, enter Franzese. He has one or two the other Russians clipped and he becomes the original guys partner ! LOL, they thought they had trouble before ? They jumped right into the fire. Anyway, through his connections because he was a made guy, he brought the business to new heights with dummy companies and skeletons and whatnot beating the Govt out of a tremendous amount of money, but was he satisfied ? Hell no, they all got popped and he wound up rolling over on a lot of people. This guy said he was earning upwards of 10 mil a month, maybe more. So when do you really stop ? Who wants to give up tremendous earning power like that ? Even look at those other bums, Boesky, Milken and the other guy who was recent, I forget his name, out of NY. They stole millions and didn't quit till they got popped. |
