Does anyone have a review about this effect. It is listed under the "hot new items" on the hocus-pocus website.
Thanks Doug McKenzie |

Haven't seen it yet, but please check out Richard Sanders version on his Close Up Assasin Tape and tell me why anyone would want a gimmicked version on this effect!

I completely agree with Gkfreed.
I perform the Sanders version all the time...this thing is just too darn clever! Couldn't find the exact marker he uses in his video...however I have found that the jumbo Sharpie markers work just fine! I hope this helps, Cody S. Fisher Dear Café, Just wanted to clear things up...the Sanders version is not a bill to pen...it is a bill to "pen cap". I did not want to give anyone the wrong info! In the "bill to pen" that Hocus Pocus is offering the bill actually ends up "inside" the pen itself...not just the cap! Knowing this...I can see how this would be much stronger! I hope this helps, Cody S. Fisher

It is basically a bill tube built into a marker and the craftsmanship is quite excellent. You cannot detect the gimmick even when looking closely at the marker. The Richard Sander's effect IS excellent as is all of Richard's material but this effect in question allows you to very cleanly open/unscrew the marker and allow the spectator to dump out the bill.
Hope that helps. Tim |

Wowzer!
I don't blame the high pricing! This sure sounds like it's worth it!

Okay, I've never used a bill tube. Is the bill loaded directly into the tube, then the subsequent vanish, or is the bill ditched (vanished) then loaded into the bill tube, then loaded into the device for the revelation? I should probably know this since bill tubes have been around forever.

The success of this and similar effects depends upon the vanish of the borrowed item AFTER the object to which the borrowed item is to transfer as perceived by the audience. What the heck did I just say? In other words, the pen is in full view before the borrowed item vanishes.
Now, if you need to switch, which is so often the case in many of these effects, there are ways of switching objects in such a way that your audience never knows anything is switched at all. There are pros and cons to every method, but the pro to this one is that the spectators themselves can handle the pen and open it to reveal their own signed bill without the magician interferring. I was not going to give away the method, but since it has already been revealed, the cost of the pen itself is more than completely justified (plus, it is imported). Personally, this absolutely paralyzes everyone and is without a doubt, among one of the more powerful effects in my restaurant repertoire. I personally recommend it! |

This does sound like an excellent item. I've had salt shakers that were like Bill Tubes in the past, but why would you take your own salt shaker to a restaurant table where there is one? The pen sounds good. But..hasn't a pen bill tube been done before? The names Eric Mason and Silver Retriever spring to mind but it might have been something completely different, anyone remember? My Friend Vani Pule' has one of these and likes it a lot. Makes more sense than just a bill tube, no?

I don't see the connection here between a dollar bill ending up in a marker. Is it me or does this sound kind of illogical.

Well, that`s the surprise. Their bill ends up in the marker that they have used to sign the bill. They are not expecting it to happen. And if you think about it, doesn`t that make more sense than finding a lemon and a knife in your pocket?

I think Neoglobin wasn't seeing the connection of using the marker to sign the bill.

Well that depends if your using Lemon Game. Its not that I didn't see the connection, but I was saying "of all places to end up".
I guess its just not for me.
