I have also heard that Captain and Coke 2.0 is a pretty good ma)$(@&c version using an American Quarter and Penny.
I believe it's in the $40 range on Blue Crown and various other sites.

I keep it in the little pouch that it came with right in my front small jeans pocket. Works great and has a good amount of routines on the DVD for it |

I didn't know about the Captain and Coke. I think that is a good one to get.

Regarding the C&C 2.0, IMO the magnetic is far superior to the locking. Easier to perform and much easier to reset. Plus, for this routine, I prefer using common coins that the specs are familiar with.
Letting them examine the coins is easy to because it is so easy to switch them out. They're not all that interested in closely examining them anyway, after all they have been holding them in their own hands for most of the trick and the coins will certainly survive a casual inspection. I think many magicians give too much weight to the immediate examination aspect. Why waste time with that, take the coins back and transition into your next effect. Examining coins is NOT very entertaining. Use this psychology instead, I just tell them they can keep the coins and 99.9% of the time they will then hand them back to me IMMEDIATELY yet still feel totally satisfied that the coins are legit, just by your offer of letting them keep them, that's all they needed to know, their question has been answered. The extremely rare speckie who wants to accept my offer I just tell them I can do even better and will change the quarter into a dollar, then it vanishes and I say sorry it doesn't always work but you are still 10 cents ahead FROM when we started. No one has ever kept the dime. |
