Every magician looking to craft new words and formulate patter ideas needs to read this one. I've read this and many others because I'm writing a novel, but found it's advice invaluable to me as a magician. Regardless of what you think about the horror genre, there is no finer writer than Mr. King. This is absolutely the finest book I've ever read about crafting words, dialog, characters and story ideas. It's a must for all talkative magicians.

I worked for Stephen King for 6 years. I asked him what makes him write this stuff. He said, "I write what scares ME!" You ought to hear him tell a story around a campfire! That was an experience I'll never forget!

Awesome Dougini! What I wouldn't give. For me, it's his unparalleled ability to create utterly realistic characters that makes him truly great, above and beyond his creativity and amazing story telling prowess.

His house on W. Broadway in Bangor is classic. Been there numerous times, for dinner, etc...It's haunted! Stephen says its "The Governor", whoever that is.

Not only are the writing insights great, but his autobiography in the first half is amazing! It really gives you insight as to the sources of his inspiration.

This is probably the coolest thread I've seen in a while. I've had this book for ages but have always put off on reading it. Now's a better time than ever for me to pick it up especially since sometimes I never really know how to say what it is I'm trying to say

I've read over 3000 books in my life. From the Hardy Boys to Plato. I love cerebral sci-fi and fantasy in particular. Tolkien, Asimov, Donaldson, etc. I am recently wailing all of the classics. Moby Dick, Tale of Two Cities, Huckleberry Finn, etc. So it's fair to say I'm pretty well read I guess. I would have to say that King is as good a writer as any that has ever endeavored to do so. When all of his strengths align...IT IS TRUE MAGIC!
