For simple tricks I always get good response from the Bank Robbers. Super simple and fun to see the reactions to the story and effect.

Check out Paul Cummings handling in "From a Shuffled Deck in Use" lecture notes for a way of handling the trick that gives reason for using half the deck(plus other touches). Never liked the standard handling that gave. no reason for putting half the deck aside.
Check out Bebels handling, very nice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45i9gBlEszc |

For the ghost card, you can replace a control with a riffle f****. Then, you actually have two halves. See the version in Card College.
A simple effect with great reaction is the Tipsy Trick described in RRCM. P! |
