"238 Years Ago, Tonight"
Well ... The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was written in 1860 and published in 1863. So it was not really 238 years ago. But it is a nice piece of revisionist history, so far as it goes. "Longfellow's poem is not historically accurate, but the inaccuracies were deliberate. Longfellow had researched the historical event, using such works as George Bancroft's History of the United States, but he manipulated the facts for poetic effect. The poem was one of a series in which he sought to create American legends; earlier examples include The Song of Hiawatha (1855) and The Courtship of Miles Standish (1858).[113] Longfellow was successful in creating a legend: Revere's stature rose significantly in the years following the poem's publication."
Make America Great Again! - Trump in 2020 ... "We're a capitalistic society. I go into business, I don't make it, I go bankrupt. They're not going to bail me out. I've been on welfare and food stamps. Did anyone help me? No." - Craig T. Nelson, actor.

You disappoint me. I had thought you would have understood the difference between poetry and history, and between facts and truth, balducci.

Whatever happened to Woland?
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Sadly, not a word for poor William Dawes, who rode in the OTHER direction and actually FINISHED his ride!
