Hi Tom--Thanks for sharing this. Really clever handling. A little curiosity led me to discover this is actually part of a stage play written by a Chicago magician (who is in fact playing the older, wiser magician in this clip). Wish I had been in Chicago a couple of months ago when it was apparently running.
"The Magnificents combines the art of illusion with a theatrical story written by and starring House Theatre of Chicago magician Dennis Watkins. Watkins revisits his deeply personal script, originally produced in 2007, with renewed vision and more magic for 2013. It is the story of The Magnificents, an extraordinary family that brings magical entertainment to adoring audiences. Over time, however, their ardent fans have grown older and faded away, leaving their seats empty and the theater hushed. The aging magician and one-time star of the show takes a young boy under his wing and teaches him all his tricks, and much more. This touching story of the legacy we can leave before we let go is told in spectacular style, with aerial circus arts, film components and stunning feats of magic, including levitation." http://www.theatreinchicago.com/the-magnificents/6045/ |

That sounds and reads wonderful.
Wish I had a chance to see that show.

That is just plain sweet. With the duel performances the possibilities for misdirection are practically infinite, with so many opportunities to lead everyone down the garden path...over and over again.
Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
